Terrible low atmospheric pressure struck Japan on April 6th, but that did not take hinder the success of SID'S concert. SID's 10th anniversary concert, 'SID 10th Anniversary LIVE' took place at Yokohama Stadium that day.
SID was formed in the spring of 2003 by vocalist Mao and bassist Aki. The band has gradually, but steadily, acquired more and more fans over the years, filling up bigger and bigger concert halls and stadiums. Within the 10 years of activity, they have had just 1 concert that had to be canceled: The 2-day Yokohama Arena concert in March 2011, immediately after the great earthquake. With the intention of 'revenge' in their minds, the 4 members had high hopes for this event, taking place in the same Yokohama.
Even in the unfortunate rain, the unaffected huge screens displayed movie-taste footage of the bands history since 2003 and the members walking towards the stage in tuxedos. The audience who filled up the whole stadium approached max-level excitement. A big flock of white pigeons soared off the gorgeous stage as a thunderous sound resonates. The members finally arrive on stage, in their original (non-tux) costumes, surprising the audience.
While thinking they were going to kick off the show with an aggressive tune, the show started with the beautiful song, 'Hanabira'. As Aki begins to play the bass, which is set up on a stand, the crowd cheered. The audiences listen in on the lyrics, while almost all of them wore white raincoats in the rain. It was like watching white petals swaying in the wind.
'Yokohama! Isn't it a good weather! (LOL)'
Mao MCs with a big smile on his face. Without delay, he began introducing the members, 'I'd like to go back to our roots, please call me 'Mao-nyan'!', while making cat ears with his hands. Although the band is approaching their 10th year and becoming veterans, they continue to maintain high popularity, and that may be due to their cute personalities, which have not been drowned out by any sort of cockiness. With Yuya's groovy rhythm, they go straight into, 'Junkan'. When the song approached its chorus, the fans in raincoats all spun around splashing water. The grounds of Yokohama trembled as tens of thousands of people 'rotated' in sync.
The grounds trembled many times this day. After the 6th song, 'Monochro no Kiss', the 4 members walked down the slope towards the right stand and played 'Alibi' on the mini stage. The stage moved around the outskirts of the arena area, went around the backside of the center, as it approached the left stand where they began playing, 'Circus'. The fans were ecstatic being able to see the members play up-close while they performed their classic numbers. While excitement levels were high, a vision of the 4 members playing cards appear on the huge screen, and the card is revealed. The card read, 'Hitsuyou Aku', and the crowd went berserk. That repeated 4 times: A card reveals the next song, and the crowd cheers to the intro of the songs. The other three songs were, 'Neurose Party', 'Dekisokonai', and 'Yoshigai Manabu Juunanasai (Mushoku)'. 'Yoshigai Manabu Juunanasai (Mushoku)' was a legendary, hardcore song that was featured on the limited MD released in the summer of 2003. The whole crowd began head banging and crowd surfing. Mao couldn't contain himself and exclaimed, 'What a setlist, huh!?'. These 4 songs were the aces up their sleeves.
It was as though the rain was just another part of their stage effects. Shinji ran across the flooded stage onto a lift that lifted him above the drumset, and fireworks started shooting off from the head at the guitar-solo of 'Dear Tokyo'. The crowd smiled to this pleasant surprise. After that song, it was as if Aki went into full-throttle as he threw his bass onto the stage. From start to finish with the song 'Memai', the band remained a passionate rock band and a supreme melody-maker. The 16 songs they played fully encompassed the beauty of the band and its players.
As the rain got heavier and heavier, it became colder and colder. When Mao came back for the encore, his breath was white from the cold. On the contrary, the stage was getting hotter and hotter as they played, 'Mosou Nikki', and 'Natsukoi', and Aki revealed his beautiful body by taking off his shirt. It was as though he was taking a shower in the rain, as he would brush back his hair with his hands.
As Mao exclaims, 'I missed you, Yokohama!' during 'Natsukoi', big fireworks were shot up into the rainy sky. Both the sight of fireworks going off in heavy rain and the fireworks coming out of Shinji's guitar revealed the professionalism of the crew. During the MC, Mao praised themselves by saying, 'Despite this terrible rain, isn't it good that we're not having any technical issues?'. Despite Mao's satisfaction, the string players must have been affected to a degree with their instruments and fingers being soaked with rain. However, props to them, there were no discernable hindrances in their play. Mao sarcastically taunts Yuya in good will by saying, 'I envy that there's a roof just above the drumset (LOL)'. All night long, Yuya's drumming warmly, but strongly lead the members, as it surrounded the stadium with a sense of security. There was worry that Mao would have a hard time keeping his throat open due to the coldness, but he showed the toughness of a pro that night. Right through to the very last song, 'Binetsu', his vocals were on-spot the whole night.

All 4 members have high expectations of how the band 'should remain', and how they 'should be'. They are aware that they must battle themselves as players, the other members as composers and continue growing as artists. That is why we can find something new at every one of their concerts. Hearing new sounds, and new expressions that we never expected always surprises us.
Mao said with an innocent smile on his face, 'Doesn't it feel good! This rain of blessing... Today is a revenge for (the 2011) Yokohama Arena, and although I thought that the rain came to ruin the show, I think our revenge has been fulfilled today. Thank you!'
If there is a God, the terrible weather this day may have been a test given to them. But the members cleared this obstacle with a smile on their face. The sun is sure to shine brightly upon them. As the rain slammed the ground to make applauding sounds, the 4 members continued to shine. We will never forget this day.
